Job Title: Takoma Park Farmers Market Market Manager
Required work time: Sundays, year-round, 8:00am-3:00pm
Primary Responsibilities:
Market Operational Oversight:

Manage the on-site, Sunday operational activities of the Takoma Park Farmers Market, including but not limited to: Transporting, setting up and breaking down of equipment and supplies required weekly at the market including tent, tables, traffic barriers and signs. A cart will be provided to move from nearby storage.

Set up market ATM and oversee ATM attendant.

Oversee ATM booth and gate functions as necessary and fill-in as required.

Run ATM EBT reports and count vendor tokens enter into spreadsheet at the conclusion of each market.

Distribute monthly checks to Vendors.

Support Vendors as required.

Ensure Vendors leave property clean at the end of the market

Work with Market Administrator to seamlessly integrate market-based Programs
(Food Access Programs – SNAP/WIC/FMNP/MMM, Chef at Market and Events) into market.

Enforce TPFM Rules & Regulations fairly and consistently with customers

Ensure the safety of everyone at the market by enforcing all safety rules, keeping an eye out for hazards, and taking action as necessary.

Take photos of vendor products during market and post on social media during market hours or send to Market Administrator.

Keep Vendor attendance.

On-site point of contact for Pop Up Vendors. Assist with helping them find location.

Execute promotions and events. Typically 1 per quarter. Includes setting up and breaking down additional tents, tables and signage; greeting presenters/partners, overseeing volunteers, capturing photos and assisting where necessary.

Liaison with on-site gleaning contacts.

Oversee or perform market customer attendance counts (minimum 1 x per quarter)

Offer extraordinary customer service experience for the public and farmers.

Become adept at communicating TPFM’s purpose and mission to the public.

Create a vibrant community at market by becoming familiar with the neighborhood and population, working with community partners, and creating a welcoming environment for all.
Experience and qualifications:

An ability to work every Sunday, year- round, outdoors, including during inclement
-
weather.

An ability to lift 50+ pounds.

An ability to think on your feet and a demonstrated track record of being proactive and anticipating needs.

Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
-
Customer service and retail experience is preferred.

Food and agriculture experience or education preferred. Farmers market or on-farm experience is ideal.

Microsoft Office proficiency. Comfortable with numbers and basic excel functions.
Compensation:
This position is part time, and hourly; pay rate $18-$20/hour. Approximately 7 hours per week.
