Open Sundays, Year-round From 10:00 am-2:00 pm on Laurel Avenue

Join us every Sunday on Laurel Avenue in the lovely historic business district of Takoma Park. You’ll find the freshest local, seasonal produce, breads, pasture raised meats, artisan cheese, eggs, baked goods and more from farms located within 125 miles of Takoma Park, MD. Each week, the market is a lively meeting place for residents and visitors. Street performers often set up along the sidewalks and non-profits share info at the Community Corner creating an enjoyable backdrop to market activities. Picnic blankets are available at the market ATM to check out and enjoy market goodies on the TP SDA Church lawn.

Takoma Park 8th Annual Pie Contest is Sunday, September 22nd 2019

The Takoma Park Farmers Market Annual Pie Contest is Sunday, September 22nd 2019. Enter your best 1 or 2 crust pie using seasonal ingredients found at the market – sweet or savory! Pies will be judged by celebrity judges and prizes will be awarded. At the conclusion of the contest, all pies will sliced and offered to the public for a donation. All donations received will go to the Takoma Park Farmers Market SNAP (food stamp) Match Program. Join us and bake for a great cause, but if you don’t bake, plan to come eat!

Takoma Park Farmers Market Garlic Festival on July 14th

Takoma Park Farmers Market Garlic Festival
Sunday, July 14th, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
The Takoma Park Farmers Market hosts its 2nd annual Garlic Festival on Sunday, July 14th from 10:00am-2:00pm. Freshly dried garlic is the star of the market and available for sale at vendor stands. It’s the perfect match to all of the market’s fresh seasonal produce.
The market will host special guests Tony “The Garlic Guy” Sarmiento and the Takoma Horticulture Club who will share garlic growing tips for the home garden. Plus Sara Hayden, enthusiastic home cook and former professional caterer, will serve up some garlic-based sauces to taste with recipes to share. Local gelateria, Dolci Gelati, will be celebrating garlic all day with a special Roasted Garlic Gelato available at their shop at 7040 Carroll Avenue.

 


2019 Summer Season Kicks Off on April 21st 

The 2019 summer season kicks off on Sunday, April 21, 2019 when summer-only vendors return to join full year vendors and continue to offer fresh food, all from within 125 miles of Takoma Park. Free reuseable shopping bags today for market ATM users (ATM is in the middle of the market).

New Vendors
The market welcomes 2 new vendors this season. Purple Mountain Grown joins the market with locally grown rice and beans and seasonal produce. Migrash Farm takes a year-round spot with small batch grains and flours.

Come Have a Picnic!
The market is offering picnic blankets for check-out new this season at the market. Market shoppers may take a blanket from the market ATM table in the middle of the market and enjoy their fresh produce, baked goods, cheese, freshly made empanadas and more from the market for a picnic on the adjacent church lawn. Special thanks to the Takoma Park SDA Church and the Old Takoma Business Association/Main Street Takoma.

Pop Ups
Today, find Tenth Ward Distillery and Max’s Degrees Spices. The market continues to host a rotating line up of pop up vendors including breweries, distilleries and wineries plus honey and spices. Schedule (Special note: 2019 Pop Up schedule is full and we are not accepting additional vendors).

2019 Events
May 5: Spring Planting Event
It’s time to plant your garden. Find a variety of plants including herbs, vegetables and decorative plants along with tips and tricks from expert gardeners. Plus spring produce is in – asparagus, strawberries, rhubarb and more!
10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Kathy Jentz, editor of Washington Gardener Magazine, “How to Grow Your Pollinator Garden,” plus a fun, free flower seed planting activity for kids and adults.
12:00 noon – 2:00 pm: Bobby Moses with Love & Carrots to discuss “Gardening in Challenging Spaces.” Sunlight, soil, water access, space constraints, and pest / critter problems are covered.

Bring Your Bags to the Market

Be sure to bring your reuseable shopping bags to the market or you can purchase one at the market’s ATM booth.  As of December 1, 2016, the City of Takoma Park has banned plastic shopping bags at the point of sale.
